Upgrading 2G POS Terminals to 4G and Saving Foreign Currency Through Thunder Light
Thunder Light, one of the active groups in manufacturing and supporting POS terminals and banking kiosks, has announced a broad program to convert 2G-based POS terminals to 4G technology across the country. The initiative aims to improve the stability and security of the payment network, reduce costs, and prevent unnecessary foreign-currency outflows.
According to the company, many POS devices still rely on the aging 2G network. As operators gradually phase out 2G, replacing every terminal would require heavy imports and foreign-currency spending. Thunder Light's approach instead receives existing devices, applies hardware and software upgrades, and returns them ready for 4G operation.
Through this innovative conversion plan, merchants can keep their current fleet while moving to a more reliable, future-ready connection — reducing both replacement costs and pressure on the country's foreign-currency reserves.

Thunder Light Wins Tender for 15,000 Mobile POS Terminals for Asan Pardakht Persian
Following a tender held by Asan Pardakht Persian (AP) for the procurement of 15,000 mobile Point of Sale (POS) terminals, Thunder Light Company has been announced as the winner.
In this tender, the SP550 mobile POS model from the prestigious Newland brand achieved the highest score based on technical and operational evaluations. This device offers a combination of speed, efficiency, and quality, featuring 4G connectivity, a high-speed thermal printer, a large high-resolution display, and a modern, intelligent design.
While maintaining the classic appearance of previous generations, the SP550 is equipped with a powerful processor and stable performance, making it capable of meeting the extensive needs of the merchant network with high efficiency.
It is worth noting that Thunder Light had previously been selected as the winner in Bank Mellat's tender for 55,000 units, as well as Sepehr Electronic Payment's tender for 10,000 mobile POS terminals, proposing the same SP550 model for both.

Thunder Light (Tandar Noor) Company has emerged as the winner of the tender for the purchase of 10,000 mobile Point of Sale (POS) terminals for Sepehr Electronic Payment.
In the recent tender held by Sepehr Electronic Payment regarding the procurement of 10,000 mobile POS terminals, Thunder Light Software Company was announced as the winner with its proposed device, the SP550.
It is worth noting that this purchase tender was held at the end of the Persian year 1403 (early 2025).

Thunder Light Achieves 20th Rank in the Computer Group and 351st Among Iran's Top 500 Companies
In the 27th annual ranking of Iran's Top 500 companies (IMI-100), organized by the Industrial Management Institute (IMI), Thunder Light (Tandar Noor) was ranked 351st.
During the IMI-100 conference held on Monday, January 20, 2025 (1 Bahman 1403), at the IRIB International Conference Center, Thunder Light was awarded a plaque and the 351st rank among Iran's top 500 companies. The event was attended by Mohammad Reza Aref, the First Vice President; Seyyed Mohammad Atabak, the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade; Reza Alizadeh, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Commission on Industry and Mines; and Asghar Mosaheb, the head of the Industrial Management Institute of Iran.
Furthermore, the company successfully secured the 20th rank within the "Computer and Related Activities" group.

On Thursday, January 9, 2025 (20 Dey 1403), the 30th-anniversary ceremony of "Thunder Light" (Tandar Noor) was held at the Espinas Palace Hotel, attended by senior executives from Saman Bank and Saman Financial Group.
With three decades of experience in the field of Information Technology and electronic payments, Thunder Light has taken significant steps toward meeting specialized software and hardware needs within the country's electronic payment industry. Thunder Light began its operations in December 1994 and is now recognized as a knowledge-based company specializing in the production and provision of comprehensive electronic payment solutions in the country.

Thunder Light Highlights Innovation at 9th Transaction Exhibition (ITE)
Thunder Light (Tondar Noor) Software Company (affiliated with Saman Bank), one of the country's oldest, largest, and best-equipped centers for specialized Point-of-Sale (POS) terminal production and repair, actively participated in the 9th Iran Transaction Exhibition (ITE).
According to Fabanews, citing the news headquarters of the International Transaction Event, Hooman Sepehri, CEO of Tondar Noor Software Company, discussed the company's objectives and plans for its participation in the 9th ITE during a video interview conducted at the Faba Studio.
He explained the company's origins, adding, "Thunder Light Software Company was established in February 1995 through the efforts of a group of professors from Sharif University of Technology. Its goal was to meet the specialized hardware needs for smart card systems, POS terminals, ATMs, and banking products."
Sepehri noted that the company successfully obtained its knowledge-based company certification from the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology in January 2021. He continued, "To address domestic demand, the company began producing various types of POS terminals locally. Consequently, after receiving approval from the Board of Directors, as well as confirmation from Shaparak and the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, we obtained permits to establish a factory."
He specified the factory's capacity: "This permit allows for the production of 200,000 POS terminals and 50,000 retail POS units annually." Sepehri concluded, "In less than a year, by January 2022, the factory and our POS terminal production line were inaugurated at Pardis Technology Park."

Thunder Light Honored at the Second National "Made in Iran" Event
At the second national "Made in Iran" event, attended by Mohammad Mehdi Baradaran, Deputy Minister for General Industries of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, 80 active production, industrial, and economic units in the country were recognized.
According to Maziar Alinia, the event's organizing secretary, the foundation of this program is based on the importance of the "topic of the year" — issues currently circulating annually within society that hold significant national importance.
Furthermore, the event's steering committee — formed based on principles such as supporting national production, evaluating the performance of manufacturing entities, and promoting high-quality national production — is composed of distinguished academic and prominent figures from across the country.
Another segment of the event involved assessing the competencies of successful managers, focusing on negotiation abilities, problem-solving skills, empathy, developing others, self-awareness, recruitment, and other capabilities needed for modern organizational leadership.

National Information Technology Day Held with the Support of Thunder Light
On July 11, the second National Information Technology Day event was held at Milad Tower Congress Center with the presence of 1,600 people, with the support of Thunder Light, Ertebat Farda, Parsian E-Commerce and Joya companies.
In this event, organized by the Tehran ICT Guild organization, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Isa Zarepour, and Mohammad Amin Aghamiri spoke about the importance of information technology in economic prosperity.
During this event, a lottery was held among the guests and five persons were selected. Mr. Hooman Sepehri, Hossein Vaez Ghamsari, Mohammad Pour Sarparast, Mohammad Javad Taft and Shouresh Moradi awarded prizes to the winners.
Thunder Light Company, a long-standing member of the Tehran ICT Guild organization, sponsored the Information Technology Day event as an opportunity to appreciate the Guild's efforts.
According to Dr. Sepehri, CEO of Thunder Light, registering Information Technology Day in the national calendar shows the importance of this field for government and regulators: "Information technology is a big industry, the use of which in industries leads to increased productivity and production."

According to Thunder Light Public Relations, the company — which had secured the top rank in domestic production and sales of POS terminals in 1401 and previously won tenders from Asan Pardakht Persian, Sadad Electronic Payment, and other major PSPs — was announced as the winner of Iran Kish Credit Card Company's tender to supply 40,000 mobile POS terminals.

Thunder Light New Year Celebration and Staff Gathering
The new year celebration of the company was held in March 2023 in the conference hall at the Pardis Science and Technology Park building, with the presence of the CEO, managers and employees.
In this gathering, Mr. Sepehri spoke about company goals, recent activities and the future of the company. He also pointed to the company's actions around honoring employees and creating training courses, and appreciated colleagues across all fields.

Thunder Light Wins Asan Pardakht's Large Tender for 20,000 POS Terminals
In the big tender of Asan Pardakht Company (AP), held for the supply of 20,000 point-of-sale (POS) devices, Thunder Light — one of the most important manufacturers of card readers in the country — was announced as the winner.
In addition to Thunder Light, other major companies were also present in this tender, but Thunder Light managed to win by presenting the best offer.
Mr. Hooman Sepehri, the company's CEO, announced that according to estimates and considering the volume of requests, the country's payment industry will need about one million card readers.
So far, more than 200,000 card readers based on Newland technology have been produced and marketed by this company. Also, more than 500,000 card readers of different brands have been sold by this company and are serving the country's payment industry.

Setting Up a POS Terminal Production Factory
In 2018 and 2019, Thunder Light decided to create its own brand in the field of POS terminals, and therefore, after extensive research and numerous visits, with the agreement of Newland (the second supplier of card readers worldwide) it was able to receive representation of this company.
In order to meet domestic needs, the company started producing different kinds of card reader devices in the country. After obtaining board approval and confirmation from Shaparak and the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, it received permission to build a factory and produce 200,000 card readers and 50,000 cash registers per year. In less than a year, in January 2022, the factory and production line were opened at Pardis Science and Technology Park.
Currently, this company has the capacity to produce 500 to 700 card readers per day, with the possibility of increasing production capacity to 1,500 per day.
